ABOUT TBC ENTERPRISES

TBC Enterprises is more an idea than an entity. It is an artistic aspiration towards something better. A company where the product, is the by-product and the main goal is to grow a strong and capable body of members. The current objective is to teach how the tools of the artist in acting and improvisation can be used by the non-artist to enable them in everyday life to remarkable effect.

I teach how the performing arts toolkit can be used to enable anyone to build themselves mentally and emotionally to unlock all their best selves, not merely on the stage of the imagination but for the reality of everyday life as well.

I am taking a unique spin on traditional acting tools and techniques. Whereas the art of acting has evolved into a state of 'being', to the goal of using real emotions and a constructed mentality for use in imaginary circumstances. I am using those same tools and techniques to enable non-actors to better use and manage their mind and emotions in their everyday life.

James Julian Rojas-Taylor

A first-generation American, J.J.R.Taylor was born in New Jersey and spent the first ten years of his life there before his family moved to the small town of Athens, Alabama in the late 1980s. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served five years on active duty, the bulk of his time was aboard MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina attached to the unit MTACS-28, where he was charged with article 15… twice, and was awarded over thirty, Page 11 entries during his enlistment. He would later go on to be honorably discharged, achieving the rank of sergeant. After leaving the military he returned to Alabama and with no real direction to go he returned to the Marines and spent a year with the Marine Reserve Battery Kilo 4/14 while also stumbling into the arena of acting on a dare. Over the course of the first two years of acting, relying on work ethic more so than talent, he accrued near thirty credits in a wide variety of plays, musicals, films, operas and also venturing into the world of improvisation when he was enlisted into the comedy improv troupe Face2Face Improv. He even won a small role in the first minute of the feature film “Crossroads” a.k.a. “The Novice”.

His success in local theater propelled him to move from North Alabama to New York City. After moving into a cozy apartment in Hell’s Kitchen he began by taking a six week master class with the Labyrinth Theater Company.

When the class came to an end about half the classmates remained together and form a small group operating under the name Testtube that would go on to meet weekly. While with Testtube Julian was cast as Andrew Wallace in the play “The Treatment”, produced in lower Manhattan, where he also doubled as the props master. During the course of the play he began writing himself, his first play “The Long Road Home” was fortunate enough to receive a reading also in lower Manhattan. By the time he completed his second play “Two Tablespoons of Crazy” he had gathered up enough knowledge, gained in the Master Class, through his experience in “The Treatment” and in New York that he was ready to try his own hand at it. He produced, promoted, helped in building a detailed set and was cast in as Leandro, and through sheer will “Two Tablespoons of Crazy” ran for a successful limited run in Midtown Manhattan. Julian would then return to Alabama once again after being cast as Alex in “Hunger”. Julian is currently working on his first book titled “Becoming All Your Best Selves” based on what he learned during his near twenty years as an actor and through his study of the craft and how it can be used by non-actors to unlock multiple facets of themselves.
